Throughout their journey, Lewis and Clark encountered a multitude of Indian tribes. Many tribes helped them; they told them about the route ahead, traded goods with them, provided food and shelter, and more. Some of the tribes they encountered included the Nez Perce, Teton Souix, Blackfeet, Yankton Souix, and Haditsa tribes. Some of the tribes the Corps encountered on their journey included the Nez Perce, Teton Sioux, Blackfeet, Yankton Sioux, and Walla Walla tribes. The map to the right shows all the Indian tribes the group encountered on their journey.
